A little to close for me

So.. heres the deal. I had the previous night off from work and went to bed around 4am. That means that I am awake at 9am. So, I was cleaning, doing laundry, decorating for christmas. All my christmas decorations are in the basement. So up and down the stairs I go while doing laundry. By load number 2 I started to smell something "hot".

Bear with me as here starts the side track of the story. My basement I call the "dungeon" because it is one that can never be finished off. Its a little shady, some of the electrical could be updated; ex: the lights in the ceiling keep blowing light bulbs or dont work unless you wiggle the fixture etc...

Ok.. Back to the story. With the shady electric in some parts of the basement, I unplugged whatever was unecessary. Time to put load number 3 in the dryer. I continued doing random things while laundry was going.

I figured it was 2pm-ish. Time to shut the blinds and curtains and take a nap on the couch watching some TV. Last minute thought.. I should go downstairs one more time. GOOD THING! Upon entry into the basement I observed the outlet in the pictures smoking. Now, I'm not gonna lie, I stood there for a minute and thought of letting it go. All my work clothes were in there and I couldn't go to work if I couldn't get dressed.. Right?

But no, I stopped the dryer. Shut the power off to the dryer. Called my brother in law. Yadda yadda yadda.. Blah blah blah.. He came to the rescue and fixed it!!! YEAH!

Oh yeah.. and the plug did melt into the socket! AWESOME!
