Pumpkinfest 5k

This past saturday I entered the Zeeland Pumpkinfest 5k. I entered mostly to keep my jogging up and it was only $10 to enter. WOW! Thats a deal. I quickly learned why it was such a deal. It was a pretty shady race day!

Upon arrival to get my shirt and race number it was such a cluster F$#@. Totally unorganized! People meshing, trying to pay and enter the race, table attendents not knowing what was going on. Finally my turn, or so I thought. I start talking to the lady and someone else cuts me off with a check in hand trying to enter. REALLY? Thats pretty rude! Finally for real, I get my shirt and number. What a hassle!

I go back to my car and sit and wait as it is a bit chilly outside. I think its close enough to the start of the race so I walk back to the stadium. 8:00am. SWEET! Wrong again! They have to do the kids activities first. Don't get me wrong, I think its great they have kids running activities for this but why do the adults have to wait? It's cold out. I don't have a kid, I don't want to watch yours, Sorry but its true! They could have advertised it.

Finally the race starts. It was actually a good track to run. Brought back some memories from school days, not all good, not all bad. The only complaint I have for the actual race is there was never a wide enough track to really freely run. It was congested most of the way.

Race completion! My time was 33 something. Almost 3 minutes better than the last race 2 weeks ago. SWEET! Time however for my next complaint: the officials at the end of the race were upset because I didn't have the piece to tear off my number. Sorry I took it off. I am used to having an electronic chip on my foot.

I guess thats what you get for $10. I know its a lot of complaining but it was still a good race!

Now, to see if I can get another on in this fall!

I TOTALLY agree with the kid run. People with kids don't understand those of us without... but, way to go keeping up on the running. I'm so lazy...
