I graduated from nursing school in July 2009. Took and passed my boards shortly after that. My goal was to take a year off from school so I could get comfortable with my new role as an RN vs an LPN. Then start school again for my bachelors degree in nursing.
Then.. It took me until July 2010 to get a job.
Then.. that job completely took over my life. I hated it. Not everything about it, but most things about it. I was scheduled for 72 hours every 2 weeks. Worked 85-90 hours on average every 2 weeks. Night shift. It sucked. Week by week it felt as a little piece of my soul was lost to that job. I just had to get through the night, just to go back again.
Then.. I said forget you. I was trying to get out of there, however, West Michigan sucks for trying to find a job. If you want to go anywhere good in nursing you need to have your bachelors degree. Thats what I was trying to do.
I decided to start school anyways. If I was a little more tired at work. Who would really know? I started the application process and BAM! Got my first tuition bill. $60. Holla!
In the mean time I got a new job. It's great. Probably not the best in the world but from where I came from it is.
Now. 1 week into this 3 week class I am back in the groove. It's just a College Success Class. No biggie, but it's required.
So, I have to figure out what the next class is, how much it is, when it starts. BUT.. I'm on my way to my Bachelors degree.
What then.. we shall see!
